I am the new Assistant Professor of Music Composition at Soochow University in Suzhou, China.
Kate and I will be moving to China in the middle of July after I finish my doctorate in May.
The School of Music at Soochow University is brand new. The first class of students will be entering the school in September of 2013. 18 new faculty members (myself included) will help design and shape the curriculum and make the Soochow University School of Music a premier musical institution. All classes will be taught in English. I signed the tenure-track contract today and made the offer official on New Year's Day in the Year of the Snake.
Kate and I are really excited about this next step. It is a major opportunity to start and design a program. Its going to be a huge move and life change. And we are ready!!!
This blog will be my primary means of communication since Facebook and Twitter are blocked in China (though VPN options are available).
Let the moving day countdown begin!!
